Every year, thousands of parents must deal with the news of their child being diagnosed with a critical illness, as their child embarks on a grueling treatment journey. But Make-A-Wish is here to show them a world full of possibility; to bring hope and joy, when it is needed most. Each wish has the power to create a unique and lasting impact on every child and their family.

There is no limit to the joy a wish can bring. But we need your help to continue making wishes come true. Here’s what your donation can do for a child living with a critical illness:

$50 could buy entrance to an animal park
$100 may pay for lunch for a wish family
$500 could cover photography for a photoshoot wish
$1000 might be used to buy a custom bed

John’s Story

A child’s fight against a critical illness is not only physically exhausting – it is traumatic. A wish can open up a world of possibilities for a child, giving hope without limits.

4-year-old John from Germany is living with cystic fibrosis and wished to be become a superhero. But not just anyone can be a superhero – first John had to show his bravery and cunning by overcoming a series of challenges and earning his superhero stars!

John’s day involved a series of challenges designed to test his superhero abilities. John ran through a laser course, track down villains, go on a treasure hunt and rescue his Mom! As a thank you for his rescue mission, he received a certificate and medal personally presented by the local police. The police officers praised Super John’s courage and strength. At the end of the day, John celebrated with family and friends at his own superhero party.

His mother told us that unfortunately he had to go to the hospital a few days later because of an infection but she sent us a picture of a nurse drawing blood from John, and of course he was wearing his superhero costume!

John’s strength and courage are an inspiration to us all. But wishes need heroes like you. Donate today or get in touch with us about organising a fundraiser at [email protected]

World Wish Day

Make-A-Wish traces its inspiration to Chris Greicius, an energetic 7-year-old boy living with leukemia who wished to be a police officer. In 1980, Chris Greicius’ family and friends came together to help make his wish ‘to be a police officer’ come true. Little did Chris know that his wish would create a movement that would transform millions of lives.

Today, Make-A-Wish has been granting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses for 43 years, in 50 countries across 6 continents all over the world. More than 550,000 wishes have been granted since then.

Every year, Make-A-Wish chapters and affiliates come together in celebrating World Wish Day on April 29th, the anniversary of the wish that inspired the founding of Make-A-Wish.

When you help grant a wish, you open up a world of possibilities for a child living with a critical illness. There is no limit to a child’s imagination, and no limit to the joy a wish can bring.

But we can’t do it without you. This World Wish Day, we are asking you to raise your hand and donate to bring hope without limits to children with critical illnesses.
