Jewelers for Children held the 17th Annual Facets of Hope event in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. The charity announced that $ 2.8 million had been raised to support their charity partners in the year ahead and that since 1999, more than US$48 million had been donated on behalf of the industry to help children in need. “Each year that amazing number grows due to the generosity of the wonderful people in this industry. said Ruth Batson, JFC board chair. Over the past 17 years, we have touched the lives of so many thousands of children and their families.”

The evenings began with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner and the program. During the program, the organization recognized Philippe Mellier, CEO of the De Beers Group of Companies and Scott Burger, CEO of Pandora AMERICAS. Guests heard from Florence Ngobeni-Allen representing the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and four-year old Violet, who had her wish to visit Disneyland granted by Make-A-Wish America.

Batson announced that the charity was pledging US$600,000 St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, US$750,000 to Make-A-Wish America, US$625,000 to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, US$625,000 to the National CASA Association, US$100,000 to Make-A-Wish India and US$25,000 to the Santa-America Fund. Jewelers for Children was founded in 1999 by the U.S. jewelry industry with the mission of helping children in need. Since its inception, JFC has donated more than US$48 million to programs benefiting children whose lives have been affected by illness, abuse or neglect through our charity partners St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, Make-A-Wish® America, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and the National CASA Association. JFC also provides support to Make-A-Wish® International, and the Santa-America Fund. This nationwide success is due to the continuing generosity of jewelry trade organizations, jewelry and watch manufacturing companies, jewelry retail stores, individual jewelry professionals, and jewelry consumers.
