I wish to meet AC/DC
Hendrix, Age 6, United Kingdom
Six-year-old Hendrix Martin met his heroes of the legendary rock band AC/DC courtesy of Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK.
Hendrix is fighting Acute Monocytic Leukemia and is a huge fan of the famous rockers. Hendrix has been a fan since the age of three, when he had to have a major bone marrow transplant. The doctors and nurses were trying to calm him down and help him sleep by playing classical music for him, which did not help. His father Robert instead tried playing AC/DC, the only CD he had, and Hendrix became completely relaxed and managed to sleep. Since that day, he has listened to AC/DC’s music non-stop and when he wished to meet them, the Make-A-Wish Foundation UK made it happen.
Hendrix, along with his parents Karen and Robert, made their way to Wembley Stadium. They collected their tickets and Hendrix could not believe his luck when he realized he would be in the VIP (Very Important Person) box and have a great view of the concert. Then it was the big moment and Hendrix and his family were escorted backstage to meet the band. As soon as Hendrix walked through the door, his eyes widened with excitement and he could not believe who was in front of him, just inches away: Brian Johnson, Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Phil Rudd and Cliff Williams, all there just for him. They presented Hendrix with an AC/DC goodie bag and his very own miniature guitar with Cliff Williams’s name on it which was signed by every band member.
After the meet and greet, Hendrix was even more excited and wanted to get straight to his seat to watch the band perform. When AC/DC came to the stage, Hendrix jumped to his feet. He sang along to all the songs and played his air guitar! Everyone around him commented on how he must be a true fan. Hendrix exclaimed “I can’t believe I met them. It was amazing. I love them!”
Hendrix’s dad Robert said, “Tonight has been fantastic for Hendrix and just to see him so happy means everything. He has met his heroes and this will be something he will never forget. Thank you so much for making his wish come true.”
