Make-A-Wish Foundation® International has created this statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for this Web site: www.worldwish.org.
Your IP Address and Cookies
For each visitor to our Web site, our Web server automatically recognizes only the visitor's IP address (e-mail addresses are not automatically recognized by our server). We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our Web site. Your IP address is used to gather broad demographic information and is then discarded. Occasionally, we may use cookies to improve content and provide easier access. This technology lets us review which parts of the site are popular and which are not, allowing us to offer future improvements to the site; however, cookies that we generate contain no identifiable information about you, any children that may visit this site, or your computer.
Personal Contact Information
When you are making a donation, purchasing a product, expressing an interest in referring a wish child, or subscribing to our online newsletter, we ask you for personal contact information, including your name, mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address. We will use this contact information to provide you with information or resources you have requested, such as information about the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a receipt, or a financial report, or we will use your information to contact you to clarify or verify other information, such as an order you placed, a donation you made, or a wish child that you have referred.
We will not add your name and contact information to any mailing lists without your prior knowledge or express permission. We will always ask or inform you before adding you to a mailing list. If we do not, you will not be added. If you have agreed to be added to one of our mailing lists, such as our e-mail newsletter list or regular mailing list, then you may receive from us about Make-A-Wish Foundation International and information on how you can support the organization's mission.
Personal contact information is not shared with any organization outside of Make-A-Wish Foundation International and our agents (reputable companies we use for services, such as shipping Make-A-Wish Foundation products or sending Make-A-Wish Foundation mail). We have contracts to protect your privacy with all of our agents. In some cases, when you wish to refer a child, make a donation to your country’s affiliate, or ask for country-specific information, your contact information may be passed on to your country’s affiliate. Your country’s affiliate will not add you to their mailing lists unless you have expressly asked to be added.
Personal billing information we collect and what we do with it
In addition to personal contact information, we ask for billing information, such as your billing address and credit card number, when you make a donation or purchase a product. We use secure servers to gather and process your billing information. These secure servers are hosted by our agent CharityWeb, which is bound by our site policies. Your billing information is not shared with any other organizations, and your credit card number is not retained once your transaction has been authorized and processed.
Other contact information we collect and what we do with it
In some instances, we ask for contact information for people other than yourself – for example, e-mail addresses of friends to whom you wish to send a copy of one of our pages or the mailing address of someone you wish to have us notify of a donation you have made. Such contact information is not added to any mailing list nor is the information shared with any other organization. Collecting such information for our own use is called prospecting. The Make-A-Wish Foundation does not prospect.
Information from Forms
Our site's forms require users to give us contact information (like their name, phone number, and e-mail address). We use customer contact information from these forms to send users information about Make-A-Wish Foundation International. Users may opt-out of receiving future communications, or contact us with their concerns about our privacy policy; see the ◦ section below.

Our Partners
Our Web site (www.worldwish.org) is hosted by NetNation. No information gathered from users is shared with NetNation.
In the case of online donations, on our behalf, CharityWeb provides and manages secure servers to host the transactions and gather pertinent donation information from users. This information is passed directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and its financial institutions, and is not used by CharityWeb.
Occasionally, Make-A-Wish Foundation International offers links to third-party vendors that offer Make-A-Wish Foundation merchandise online, via the Web. Make-A-Wish Foundation International does not control Web sites maintained by such third-parties. For information on their site policies, including privacy and the way they share information, you must visit their Web sites. In general, contact information returned to us by such third parties is treated as if it had been gathered by us and is given the same consideration.
Security
This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. Specifically, secure servers are used to gather financial information, and encrypted channels are used to transfer this information.
Children
With respect to children, Make-A-Wish Foundation International does not collect personally identifiable offline contact information without prior parental consent, nor do we distribute to third parties any personally identifiable information without prior parental consent. Our site provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from us and our partners at the point where we request information about the visitor.
