Wish Children to Attend 2004 Summer Olympics
Phoenix, Arizona, USA – When the 2004 Summer Olympic Games begin, 15 children with life-threatening illnesses from around the world will be in attendance thanks to Make-A-Wish Foundation. While some spectators will travel thousands of miles, these Make-A-Wish children have braved far more to be a part of the Olympic Games. Many have undergone painful treatment; some fight a daily battle with their illness, but they will all be there because their one true wish, above all else, is to be a part of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games.

One of these children, Lynda, a 17 year old from the United Kingdom, wants to meet her Olympic swimming hero; while others wish to see their favorite sporting events. All are united in their love of the Games and their determination to have their wish come true. They range in age from 10 to 17, but have been through more than most people will in a lifetime.

“These children represent the ultimate struggle to reach the Olympics,” said Victoria Ames, CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation International. “They are battling their illnesses, and are fighting every day to overcome them. The Olympic Games and these children epitomize the drive of the human spirit to fight against adversity to make dreams come true.”
